Why Sustainability And Workload Will Determine Your Growth
Talking to a dear friend recently who is not in any way related to Supply Chain, and the topic of workload and unsustainability came up. It's an extremely relevant topic; each news feed will invariably feature something about "The Great Resignation". Across all industries, some more than others for sure, and all levels of work- people are finding the current environment unsustainable. This topic very much resonated, as the purpose of L'Gato is to create agile and responsible supply chain systems for fast growing businesses. The notion of sustainability has been front and center for quite some time but- I must admit- not in this exact context.
When mapping out a supply chain strategy and the analytics to support decision making, sustainability comes into play heavily with the level of complexity required to maintain processes, the flexibility of systems to enable (and not hinder) growth and change, and of course, the responsible, closed-loop supply chain structure that eliminates waste of any kind and at any point in the lifecycle of a SKU.
But what about the people? What is sustainable for your Team?
Let's take an analogy detour.
Let's say this dear friend was an artist. She worked creating art for a business and painted there for them daily. One day, the business ran out of paint brushes. Since she knew painting so well, they asked her to arrange the buy. Then the supply closet became disordered and unusable. Again- the business asked her to fix it because there was no one else to do it. Then... you get the idea. Soon this artist either doesn't have time to paint at all, or is cramming in small moments between so many other activities, or she's working double time to stay on top of everything.
Can you or your Team relate?
When processes are out of control, systems clunky, and changing times threaten instead of inspire, reactivity and full-on-band-aid-mode take hold.
It's a mess. It's exhausting. And it's completely unsustainable.
L'Gato's mission is to help create solid, agile, and scalable Supply Chains for fast growing businesses. We aim to prevent waste. We seek to facilitate and expand responsible Supply Chains from as early as possible in a business. And, above all, we pursue strategies that are sustainable- for your business, for the world, and for your Team.
